About the Team & Mission

The 42dot Vietnam subsidiary of 42dot serves as a strategic QA hub dedicated to ensuring the quality and reliability of automotive software. Working in close collaboration with 42dot HQ and global R&D centers, the entity will lead testing, validation, and quality enhancement efforts for vehicle software systems.

This position is responsible for HMI quality validation for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems. You will verify that the screens users see and interact with—including layouts, text, icons, screen transitions, and input responses—are implemented according to design specifications and perform consistently under real-world conditions such as multilingual environments, driving scenarios, and extended use.

Rather than measuring the electrical characteristics of individual components or validating control logic, this role focuses on evaluating the quality of the complete user-facing experience—how the interface looks, behaves, and responds to users.

Responsibilities

  • Core Focus — HMI Quality Validation

    • A key responsibility of this role is to compare the implemented UI against UX guidelines and screen specifications, identify discrepancies, and assess their impact on the user experience.

    • Since UI defects can be difficult to resolve without clear reproduction conditions, we highly value the ability to clearly document what went wrong and how to reproduce it, supported by screenshots, videos, logs, and step-by-step reproduction procedures.

  • Responsibilities

    • Test Case Design: Develop test cases and scenarios based on screen specifications, UX guidelines, and system requirements.

    • Test Environment Setup: Configure IVI devices and bench environments, displays and touch equipment, vehicle-signal simulation, and validation tools.

    • Test Execution: Perform new-feature validation and regression testing across the verification areas described above.

    • Defect Reporting: Report defects with clear reproduction steps, screenshots/videos, and relevant logs such as logcat, and verify fixes.

    • Traceability Management: Maintain traceability between screen/system requirements and test cases using tools such as DOORS.

    • Reporting & HQ Communication: Prepare test reports, analyze issues, communicate results to the Korea HQ, and incorporate feedback from HQ. Some feedback may be provided in Korean.

    • Test Automation: Automate UI interactions using adb scripts, Appium, or UI Automator; implement screenshot comparison and OCR-based UI validation; and integrate regression automation into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Verification Scope

    • Visual Accuracy

      • Verify layouts, alignment, spacing, icons, image assets, colors, and typography against screen specifications.

      • Validate text display, including typos, missing or untranslated strings, line breaks, truncation, and overflow.

      • Validate multilingual UI behavior, including string replacement, missing glyphs, font fallback, and layout issues caused by different string lengths across languages.

      • Verify regional formats such as date/time (12/24-hour), units (km/mile, °C/°F), numbers, and currencies.

      • Validate day/night themes, display brightness levels, color contrast, and overall visibility.

    • Interaction & Responsiveness

      • Identify stuttering, frame drops, ghosting, flickering, and tearing during screen transitions and animations.

      • Validate response latency from touch input to screen response and verify touch-coordinate accuracy.

      • Verify multi-touch and gesture recognition, including swipe, pinch, and long press.

      • Validate focus navigation and highlighting for hard keys, steering-wheel controls, and rotary inputs.

      • Verify time to first screen after boot and proper restoration of UI and system states after wake-up.

    • State & Scenario Validation

      • Verify the priority, overlap, display duration, and screen-blocking behavior of pop-ups, notifications, and warnings.

      • Validate driving restrictions and vehicle-speed-dependent UI transitions.

      • Verify UI and state synchronization across multiple displays, such as CID, cluster, and HUD.

      • Validate layouts and focus behavior in split-screen and multi-window modes.

      • Verify menu and feature availability based on vehicle specifications, including trim, options, and sales region.

    • Applications & Connectivity

      • Validate screen flows of built-in applications such as Vehicle Settings, Media & Radio Player, Call, and Message.

      • Verify screen transitions and exception handling for key features such as Phone Projection (Android Auto / Apple CarPlay) and Driving View.

      • Validate UI guidance and error messages for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and USB connection, disconnection, and connection failures.

      • Verify proper UI behavior and retention of user settings before and after software/OTA updates.

    • Stability & Output Quality

      • Validate UI performance degradation caused by latency or memory leaks during long-run and repetitive operation.

      • Capture logs and document reproduction conditions for application crashes, ANRs, black screens, and UI freezes.

      • Verify UI recovery under exceptional conditions such as power on/off, reboot, and low voltage.

      • Validate display output quality, including resolution, color, and brightness, as well as audio output and media playback quality.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of QA experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • Functional testing of GUI applications in Android or embedded environments

    • Validation of user-interface devices such as displays and touchscreens

  • Ability to develop test cases based on specifications, including screen and system requirements

  • Ability to document UI defects with clear, reproducible steps and supporting evidence such as screenshots, videos, and logs

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to apply consistent evaluation criteria throughout repetitive validation processes

  • Basic English communication skills, both written and verbal (sufficient for day-to-day QA work)

Preferred Qualifications

  • We encourage applicants to clearly highlight any relevant strengths and experience in their application. Experience across multiple areas is welcome.

    • IVI / Infotainment Validation

      • Experience validating Android-based IVI applications such as Media, Phone Projection, and Driving View

      • Experience validating display, touch, and audio interfaces

      • Experience testing connectivity features such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and USB, including related UI flows

    • UX/UI & Usability Validation

      • Experience validating implemented UIs against UX guidelines and design specifications using tools such as Figma

      • Experience with multilingual and localization (L10N) testing across languages such as Vietnamese, English, and Korean

      • Understanding of automotive display visibility and driver-distraction considerations, such as ISO 15008

      • Experience evaluating interfaces from accessibility and visibility perspectives, including color contrast, font size, and touch-target areas

    • Test Automation & Tools

      • Experience with UI automation using Appium, UI Automator, or adb

      • Experience automating UI/text validation through screenshot comparison tools such as OpenCV or OCR

      • Experience using test and defect management tools such as Jira, TestRail, and DOORS

      • Experience operating regression testing within CI/CD environments

    • Additional Preferred Experience

      • Experience in automotive software validation and basic understanding of in-vehicle networks such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet

      • Experience working in global, English-speaking environments

      • Korean communication skills (written and verbal), particularly for reporting test results to Korea HQ and handling feedback provided in Korean
